Swedish Forest Roads Development
Embodying the strength of collaboration, this forest road development project involves a diverse coalition of eleven partners. Our combined efforts harness a rich pool of knowledge and resources, propelling us towards the creation of a resilient and interconnected forest road network in Sweden.
“ With each forest road we develop, we are contributing to a more connected Sweden, united by roads that embrace sustainable practices and respect the forest nature”

Our Forst Roads Construction Solutions
Optimized Compaction
Stabilizing a forest road through increased compaction involves densely compacting the road materials. the denser structure promotes efficient water drainage, enabling it to withstand the heavy forestry vehicles and equipment.
Using Stone Mattresses
Placing stone mattresses in critical erosion-prone areas helps to dissipate erosive forces caused by runoff and heavy traffic. These mattresses effectively reduce soil erosion, helping to maintain the structural integrity of the road surface.
Selecting an Appropriate Crown
Selecting an appropriate crown for a forest road is essential for efficient drainage, especially in forested areas prone to heavy rainfall or snowmelt. A well-designed crown directs water off the road surface, preventing pooling and minimizing erosion.
Stabilization with ECO-Friendly Additives
Incorporating eco-friendly additives to stabilize forest roads aligns with sustainable environmental practices. By utilizing such environmentally friendly options, the soil structure is modified, resulting in increased strength and stability.
Geocell Reinforcement
Stabilizing with Geocells substantially increases the durability and longevity of forest roads. By reinforcing the roadbed and distributing loads more evenly, these technologies minimize rutting and potholes, , all of which are common issues in forest roads.
Swedish Forest Roads Development Activities
This Swedish forest road development project is an example of a resilient approach, designed to withstand the challenges of climate change and accommodate the heavy truck loads that are essential for efficient forestry operations. Our initiatives use cutting-edge engineering and sustainable practices to build and maintain forest roads that can withstand a changing climate while ensuring safe and optimal transport for heavy trucks.
By incorporating climate-resilient features such as erosion-resistant surfaces, proper drainage systems and adaptive designs, our forest roads and all gravel roads will be able to withstand extreme weather events.
Understanding the critical role of forest roads in supporting industrial operations will help make the best use of available resources. By using advanced road designs, developing the performance of locally available road construction materials, and applying advanced monitoring technologies at relatively acceptable costs, developed forest roads will be able to handle high gross weights of trucks while ensuring safety.
